My workout life before pre-workout was a bit challenging. Okay, I am being dramatic, but I seriously can’t imagine my workout routine without it. There goes that “routine” word again. I believe it is important to establish some sort of routine to hold oneself accountable and maintain consistency in your regiments.
Let me start at the beginning of my love affair with pre-workout. I remember sitting on the floor of my favorite cycling class. I had really gotten into cycling at this point, and found myself nearly dragging my body to make it to at least three classes per week along with my daily strength workouts. If you are a gym rat like me or enjoy a good sweat, then you understand the importance of making the most of a trip to the gym. When I head to the gym for a workout, I usually take a minimum of two classes, sometimes I would find myself at the gym for three hours. No lie…. After cardio, some strength, maybe a yoga or Pilates class, I would be spent. I did the hard part, showing up to class. I was finding myself constantly fatigued and sometimes feeling a little bit nausea. I was training, and athletes train hard. A friend of mine was sitting next to me in cycling class, pushing through like a champ. While I was hunched over the bars gasping for air like it was life. I had to ask this creature how she was able to not only push through workout after workout but do it with such veracious Energy. At that very moment is when I learned about pre-workout and my world was forever changed.
Let me get to the point…. I have tried several pre-workouts over the years. Sharing the pros and cons is my duty to my fellow fitness community. I feel it’s important to note that pre-workout may not be suitable for everyone. Also, they affect each individual’s body differently. In this post I will do a comparison of two of my most recently used pre-workouts. C4 Pre-workout and Six Star Pre-workout explosion.
Look out for other pre-workout review posts 🙂
